What Happens to Caller ID Phone Numbers in 'Terminating' Status, and How Does Billing Work?
Understanding the behavior of Caller ID phone numbers in 'terminating' status and how it affects your billing in Myphoner is essential. This article explains the lifecycle of such numbers and addresses related billing policies.
What Does 'Terminating' Status Mean?
In Myphoner, deleting a Caller ID phone number does not result in its immediate removal. When you click the trash can icon to delete a number, you initiate a process called termination. In this 'terminating' status:
The Caller ID is scheduled to end but remains visible on your account.
The number will remain active and functional until the end of the current subscription cycle. At this point, it will no longer renew.
The number remains selectable in all CID dropdowns (user preferences, list settings, client settings) so you can continue using it until the termination takes effect.
This design ensures that there is no abrupt interruption affecting calls during the active subscription period.
How Terminating Numbers Appear
Terminating numbers are clearly labeled throughout Myphoner so you always know which numbers are approaching their end date:
In all CID dropdowns, the number label includes the termination date, for example: "My Number (+1 12345678) -- Terminating March 31, 2026".
In the Phone Numbers management table (Manage -> Voice -> Phone Numbers), a "Terminating" badge appears in the status column. Hovering over the remarks icon shows the effective date and billing terms.
The remarks popover reads: "Terminating -- active until [date]. Billing continues as per carrier terms (current month plus next)."
Will I Be Billed for Caller IDs in 'Terminating' Status?
Yes. Caller ID numbers in 'terminating' status are subject to billing until the subscription cycle ends. When you purchase a Caller ID, you commit to at least one full billing period. Even if you delete the number before the period concludes, the charges for that cycle will still apply. Once the subscription cycle ends, billing and renewal will cease automatically.
By ordering a phone number, you agree to the phone number terms.
