A Caller ID (otherwise known as a CID) is a number that you have control over that can be used for calls.

In this article, you'll learn how to add an existing CID or buy a new one within Myphoner and assign it to either a user or a list. Please note that CID per list is only available on Premium Plans

Create a CID

First is the creation and verification of the caller ID. In order to do this, go to Manage > Voice > Numbers/CIDs, as shown in the image below:

After that, you must click on the Add a phone number button:

After we click this button, we will see a form for adding numbers:

We offer two types of numbers to cater to your calling needs within Myphoner:

Virtual Numbers

  • These are numbers you already own through another provider, such as your mobile subscription.

  • To add a Virtual Number, we'll verify your ownership by calling the number and providing a confirmation PIN on your screen.

  • Virtual Numbers are for outbound calls only, as inbound calls will be directed to the provider the number is registered with.

  • There's no additional cost to use Virtual Numbers in Myphoner.

Routed Numbers

  • These are numbers you purchase and own through the Myphoner platform.

  • No verification is required, and they can handle inbound calls directly in Myphoner (depending on your subscription plan).

  • There's a small monthly fee for each Routed Number, varying by country.

Important Notes

Both types of numbers may not be available for all countries and regions. The available options will vary based on the country you select.

Processing requests for Routed Numbers is instant for most countries but can take 1-2 business days for certain countries and you may be asked to provide additional information such as proof of address before a number can be provisioned. If you need immediate setup in such a situation, consider starting with a Virtual Number while your Routed Number is being processed.

If you want to verify a virtual number later, don't check the verify option, you'll get an option to verify after you add the number.

When ready click the lock icon to initiate the automated verification call and hover the eye to display the PIN needed for the verification call.

Assigning Caller IDs (CIDs)

If you add a CID to a user then that will be the default CID for only that user. However, if you add it to a list, it becomes the CID used by all users when working on this list.

Note: If a list has a CID assigned, it will override any assigned to the individual user.

Assigning CID to a User:

  • Navigate to Manage > Users.

  • Click the Edit button next to the user you want to assign a CID to.

  • Go to the Dialing tab.

  • Under the Caller ID section, select the desired CID from the drop-down menu.

  • Click Save to apply the changes.

Assigning CID to a List:

  • Navigate to Manage > List.

  • Identify and click on the list you want to assign a CID to.

  • Go to the Settings tab.

  • Under the Caller ID section, select the desired CID from the drop-down menu.

  • Click Save to apply the changes.

Important Notes:

  • Assigning a CID to a user makes it the default CID for that user only.

  • Assigning a CID to a list makes it the default CID for all users working on that list.

  • If a list has a CID assigned, it will override any CID assigned to individual users working on that list.

  • Consider using Smart CIDs for easier management of CID assignments.
